The most important word in the vocabulary of Investor Relations is consistency. When I interview with executives looking for Investor Relations help I typically say, "You can do whatever you want with Investor Relations, but you must be consistent." Typically, investors need to hear, and understand your vision or message three or four times before buying into that message. If you change the story every quarter and cherry pick metrics or different items you will never attract the ellusive long-only with a three to five year time horizon everyone magically seeks.
